Characterization of the Crystallographic Preferred Orientation Relationships of the Magnetite-Hematite-Goethite Phase Transformation during Martitization

The most frequent crystallographic preferred orientations developed during the progressive phase transformation of magnetite-hematite-goethite are described and analyzed in two natural samples banded iron formations from Carajás Mineral Province. Microtextures martitized grains containing three phases microplaty matrix were a scanning electron microscope equipped with detector for backscatter diffraction. For identifying correlation between magnetite, hematite goethite lattice topotaxity transformation, multiple orientation relationships tested verified using three-dimensional misorientation analysis. results show that basal planes coincide hematite, which octahedral magnetite. This indicates minerals happens topotactically, oxygen framework is preserved all members reaction as form memory. As result cyclical changes oxidation/reduction conditions, an assemblage high-order observed assigned to complex process twinning in-between goethite. In N4WS ore deposit, oxides/hydroxides work susceptible markers environmental still solid state diagenetic process.
